Confirmation Creed

This past Sunday, we confirmed eighteen youth at the 9:30 service.  Praise God!

The Confirmands followed the Credo Confirmation curriculum which was led by clergy and teachers.  The word ‘Creed’ is derived from the Latin word credo, meaning ‘I believe’. Creeds are summaries of beliefs.   The Confirmands have studied Scriptures from the New and Old Testament, learned about the United Methodist Church, and discussed what it means to live out their faith in the world.  From all their weeks of learning and growing in their faith, this class came together and put into words what they believe into their own class creed.

We believe God created the heavens and the earth, and He created us in His image.  We are made to be shepherds of the earth.

We believe God sent His Son to the world to die on the cross, redeem us from our sins, and to give us eternal life. Following Jesus may not be easy but we believe if we follow Him, He will shape us and guide us. We believe we need to reject all evils of this world, and God calls us to repent and come back to Him.

We believe the Holy Spirit is God living within ourselves to guide and comfort us. We believe that God is always there to guide us towards Christian perfection.

We believe that because we accept God into our hearts, we will be blessed and will bless others. As the church, we should be the light to the world and to serve the community.

We believe God loves us before we are even aware of it. We know we are all sinners, but we know God will forgive us when we ask Him. God’s grace is an awesome free gift for each of us.
