Lately: Cypress UMC Missions

As fully devoted followers of Christ, missions isn’t just something we do, it is who we are…it is a lifestyle. At Cypress UMC, we build relationships by impacting people; serve others by committing our time, and transform lives by showing God’s love.

Below are recent examples of how Cypress UMC is showing God’s love and impacting lives.

  • Poinsettias were delivered to both Adam and Millsap for staff appreciation
  • Much needed card tables for CAPS (our senior program) were donated by Missions
  • Three Wishes for Christmas was a success with all the donated gifts for our Cypress community kids.
  • Missions donate $4,000 for Three Wishes for teen gift cards and to feed the volunteers at Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM)
  • Volunteers from Cypress UMC helped CAM with the giving away of the Three Wishes gifts
  • Love Out Loud (LOL) Special Needs Ministry and the Red Hatters partnered together to make 60 Bountiful Boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables that went to families in need in our community
  • UMM (United Methodist Men) provided turkey for Agape Love Ministry Christmas
  • UMW (United Methodist Women) prepared care boxes that went to a battered women’s shelter
  • His Treasures Sunday school class delivered Christmas cards to a nursing home
  • Wreathes were donated to Wreaths Across America for Military Support
  • Operation Coupons (part of Military Support) won the Community Service Award from Schweinfrut Airbase in Schweinfrut, Germany
  • Bountiful Boxes (60), Red Hatters, LOL friends
  • Circle of Friends (4th and 5th graders) participated in Operation Shoe Box (through Samaritan Purse) and sent out 7 boxes of gifts for children around the world. They received confirmation that one was sent to Mexico
  • Circle of Friends made cookies and delivered them to local fire stations
  • The Children’s Department collected hats, gloves, and socks to Adam and Millsap Elementary schools for kids that need warm clothing. They added items to a “Warm Tree” that they made
  • Currently the Children’s Sunday school classes are getting ready to vote on where all their 2013 offering money will go
  • Change the World dates are set for May 17 and 18, Cypress UMC will be participating in this world wide UMC missions weekend
  • Souper Bowl of Caring will be on February 2nd where we will collect canned goods for CAM
  • We are hosting The Reach Unlimited Gala on January 23rd
  • Youth summer mission trips are scheduled
  • Vacation Bible school dates are set
  • The annual Gala fundraiser is coming soon

For the third year in a row, all of our Christmas Eve offering will go toward global missions and local educational missions…well that totaled $20,400.21! May the extravagant generosity and mission and outreach to come glorify God. Amen.
