Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord
There is an amazing amount of confidence that comes from knowing. Have you ever noticed that? Sometimes the only thing that make a risk not a risk is what you know.
The Bible has a word for that kind of knowing it’s called ______________________.
Assurance is that conviction of faith that makes a risk not a risk. It is the knowing that you know what you do know.
Assurance knowing that you know what you know about Jesus is that demarcation line between fear and faith. And a core understanding of the Bible is that the people of Jesus are meant to be people of assurance.
Are you so rock-sure of Jesus and of what you know about Him that you are willing to engrave it onto your eternal destiny? A core understanding of the Bible is that the people of Jesus are meant to be people of assurance.
Perhaps his assurance is in The Record of Scripture. Could that be it? From Genesis to Revelation, the whole Bible is record after record of God’s tenacity.
There is also The Witness of the Spirit. If the Word of God is that exterior message that I read with my eyes, then the Spirit of God is that internal assurance that I receive with my heart.
Assurance also comes from The Promises of Jesus. I don’t just have the Word of God. I don’t just have the Heart of God. But I also have the Promises of God. Jesus is the great Promise-Maker of God.
There is one final assurance, and maybe it’s the best assurance of all. And that is The Endorsement of ____________________. Paul says, For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My prayer is that, when you leave here today, you can say, I am ___________.
